The parent of a visiting player captures Dave the Rave's backward half-court shot on Saturday.

CLINTON TWP. -- When North Hunterdon High School's Varsity basketball team beat Morris Hill on Saturday, the afternoon was still rewarding for one Morris Hills fan.

"Despite our varsity team's loss, I had a very pleasant experience ... watching Dave the Rave," said Joe Vicente.

He took video of Dave Robbins' successful attempt at making a mid-court basket backwards.

Robbins, a Clinton resident, has been a supporter of North athletics for more than four decades. He holds backwards basketball shots made records (over 3,200) at North Hunterdon, as well as the school record for extra point footballs caught.

"He told me that his best is nine in a row and that he has been doing this sort of motivation since 1972, having graduated in 1963," Vicente said.

As Dave approaches his 70th birthday next month, "he has a great spirit and he is a great role model and motivator for our young students," Vicente said.
