Raritan expected to OK energy aggregation deal with Flemington

Energy aggregation, the appointment of personnel and police, and other business will be taken up at a special meeting of the Township Committee on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

RARITAN TWP. -- Energy aggregation, the appointment of personnel and police, and other business will be taken up at a special meeting of the Township Committee on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

In the Police Department Patrolman Scott Nelson is due for promotion to sergeant, and Scott Phibbs, Michael Podlaski and Anthony Moreno are up for permanent positions. The committee is also considering appointing William F. McEnroe as a probationary patrolman. The department's new Operation Blue Angel program will also be discussed.

Committee members serve as liaisons to various departments, and the following assignments are planned:

Mayor Karen Gilbert, Administration, Personnel, Planning Board; Deputy Mayor Michael Mangin, Planning Board, Police, Finance and Business; Louis Reiner, Public Works, Fire/Rescue/OEM, Local Historians; Richard Chen, Open Space, Parks & Recreation, RTMUA; and Craig O'Brien, Board of Health, Green Team, Environmental Commission.

Several resolutions are on the agenda for appointing some township officials. These include zoning inspector, tax clerk, assistant assessor, police desk operator, assistant township engineer, deputy court administrator and violations clerk.

Energy aggregation bid accepted

A resolution ratifying an energy aggregation contract with Tri-Eagle Energy is also on the agenda. Energy aggregation is a program available to local municipalities that allows them to accept bids from energy suppliers. Raritan Township is joining with Flemington in the plan with Tri-Eagle.

The meeting will be held at the Municipal Building, One Municipal Drive.
