The annual Veterans Day ceremony was held Nov. 11, 2016, at the Monument in downtown Flemington.
FLEMINGTON - More than 125 people, including veterans from every branch of the service and from World War II through the battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, turned out Friday for the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the Monument in downtown Flemington, according to John R. Parker of the Hunterdon County Veterans Alliance.
Among the presentations at the event were one by Elaine Gorman of the Flemington Historic Preservation Commission, who helped dedicate a new fence around the Monument.
Parker, who represents the American Legion in the veterans alliance, quoted the late President John F. Kennedy in his talk before the group.
"I can imagine a no more rewarding career," Kennedy said in a speech at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland. "And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.' "
Later, Parker said, "We thank all those who attended and honored and recognized our veterans."
