Summer schedules can be complicated for families with summer camps and vacations. Pack 1980 takes this into consideration by planning more than one activity each month and by pursuing activities that embrace the whole family.

The Cub Scout National Summertime Award was created to encourage packs to continue to meet even when school is not in session so that Scouts can have a year-round program. Boys earn the award by participating in at least three summertime pack events - one for each summer month.

Summer schedules can be complicated for families with summer camps and vacations. Cub Scout Pack 1980 of Readington, takes this into consideration by planning more than one activity each month and by pursuing activities that embrace the whole family.

This summer, Pack 1980 offered Scouts the opportunity to go on a Family Campout, attend nearby day camp or resident camp in Pennsylvania, go to the Summer Solstice Program at Solberg Airport, build and launch a model rocket, go fishing and enjoy sampling Dutch oven desserts, take a bike-hike on the Columbia Trail in High Bridge, and participate in service projects to collect school supplies for United Way's Tools-4-School drive and pick vegetables for America's Grow-a-Row Scout Day.
