Quakertown Fire Company holds benefit BBQ (PHOTOS)

Quakertown Fire Company in Pittstown served up a benefit barbecue at the WalMart Plaza on Sept. 11, 2001.

CLINTON - Quakertown Fire Company in Pittstown served up a benefit barbecue at the Walmart Plaza  on Sunday.

The menu included a full rack of ribs, a quarter chicken, cheeseburgers, hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as sides and drinks.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Michael Lynch Memorial Foundation, which provides scholarships to the children of firefighters and others who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Central Jersey pauses to reflect on 9/11

Also on Sunday, firefighters from Whitehouse Fire Company in Readington Township, as well as township police and members of the Whitehouse Rescue Squad, took part in a ceremony marking the anniversary. In addition, a memorial service was held Sunday morning at Patriots Point in Clinton.

Firefighters also took part in a 9/11 anniversary stairclimb held at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
