The pantry, a volunteer organization founded in 1990, depends on the generous support of local businesses, civic organizations, families and individuals for the food and personal care products it distributes at no cost to approximately 1,800 low-income Hunterdon County families who meet eligibility requirements regarding income and residency.

The Flemington Area Food Pantry announce that Gary White has been appointed Interim executive director of the pantry. White has been the Director of Food Distribution since 2013. He has also served as a pantry volunteer. White, a retired manager at Home Depot, will fill the executive director's post until a permanent director is hired.

White is replacing Maryann Isham of Flemington, who is resigning the position as of Jan. 22 after serving as executive director for four years. In submitting her resignation Isham said: "In the last few years as executive director, I have built a strong framework for the future of the Food Pantry. Bringing healthier food choices, especially fresh produce, to our clients has been a tremendous improvement."

Pantry Board President Joseph Trinity had high praise for Isham's service to the pantry: "The pantry and its clients have been extremely fortunate to have had Maryann as Executive Director during the past four years, during a time of substantial growth for the Pantry." Trinity also said "Her commitment to providing healthy food choices, other basic services, and her compassion, have resulted in many benefits and have made a positive difference to countless lives in the community. While the pantry begins its search for a new executive director, we are happy that Gary White, a long-time Board Member and volunteer, has agreed to serve as interim Director."

New volunteers are always needed for a variety of tasks at the pantry. The pantry is especially in need of volunteers with clerical, database, or accounting skills as well as individuals with pickup trucks or SUVs who are available for about an hour each week to pick up grocery items at local stores.
