Justin Burgos, a student of Polytech's automotive services program, was recognized for his business, "JBurgos Lawn Care." At age 13, Burgos applied for his first landscaping position and two years later, he ventured out on his own and opened his own business.
Two Polytech students were honored with the "Amazing Kids in Business" Award at the recent Hunterdon County Annual Business Awards Ceremony.
Elizabeth Nugent, a student of the baking and pastry program, was honored for "The Baking Biz," a business she opened at age 15 and operates out of her home. "The Baking Biz" receives, produces, and distributes pastry and dessert orders for customers throughout Hunterdon County and beyond. The success of her business has allowed Nugent to reinvest her profits, which helps her work toward her goal of continuing her education at a post-secondary culinary institution.

He now finds himself with a business that has grown from servicing friends and family to commercial contracts with promising future growth with year-round property maintenance.
Burgos' long-term goals include serving in the New Jersey National Guard after high school and expanding his business in the county and beyond by hiring employees with a specific focus on meeting the employment needs of local veterans.
The ceremony is designed to honor individuals and businesses throughout Hunterdon County for achievements in entrepreneurship, community leadership, and other areas of service. The "Amazing Kids in Business" Award is given in recognition of kids in the community looking to see their ventures grow throughout Hunterdon.
