The course kick-off evening drew a wonderful crowd at Chabad of Hunterdon County, located in Clinton, NJ. Women from all over the community came out for a night of cocktails, sweets, and art. The first portion of the class, led by Rachel Kornfeld, featured a deeper look into art from both a conceptual point of view and from a Jewish perspective.

Last Thursday, the Rosh Chodesh Society of Hunterdon County launched its newest course, Art & Soul, a new seven-session series for women. Art & Soul draws upon Jewish wisdom on seven art forms--painting, music, literature, dance, architecture, clothing design, and culinary arts--allowing students to gain a deeper appreciation of the inner dynamics of these seven art forms and how they can be applied to enhance our daily lives.

The second portion of the evening was led by Bezalel Art School Alumna Shayna Denburg, who walked students through the steps of creating a beautiful painted piece of art--regardless of their experience level. Each student was able to take home a fully completed painting of their very own creation.

"Art is not only for artists. Art is a way of seeing the world," said course instructor Rachel Kornfeld "This course touches on some of the most fundamental questions of our lives: What is beauty? How do we access our deepest held convictions? How do we tap into the creative spark that lies within each of us?"

The remainder of the course will be taught once per month for six consecutive months and is designed for women at all levels of Jewish knowledge. The next workshop is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 13, from 7:30-9 p.m., and titled "The Inner Eye of the Artist." It will explore the power and influence that music has on our psyche and will tap into the rich Jewish history of music and how it soothes the soul and rejuvenates the body.

The next class topic will be Music, and will be held on Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m., at Chabad of Hunterdon County, located at 90 Beaver Ave., in Clinton. Anyone from the community is welcome to join.
