"Holiday Bizarre" features new work from more than 30 local artists in a variety of media, including oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, stained glass and pottery.
River Queen Artisans Gallery is featuring an opening reception for their newest show, "Holiday Bizarre," Saturday, Nov. 21, from 3-6 p.m.
"Holiday Bizarre" features new work from more than 30 local artists in a variety of media, including oil and acrylic paintings, sculpture, jewelry, photography, stained glass and pottery.
"Holiday Bizarre" will also introduce the work of artists Kathleen McSherry and Elina Lorenz to the gallery.
A graduate of the School of Visual Arts in NYC, Kathleen McSherry has had a long career in advertising and marketing in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
She has taught at the School of Visual Arts, Syracuse University, Pratt Institute in New York, University of the Arts and Temple University in Philadelphia and Drew University in New Jersey.
McSherry continues to search for new and satisfying mediums to tell stories, make statements and communicate. She has shown work locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Her studio is in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
River Queen Artisans Gallery will exhibit a collection of Kathleen McSherry's assemblage sculpture, which she describes as "Recycled, Repurposed + Redefined."
Elina Lorenz is a New Jersey painter who has been exhibiting in N.Y. and N.J. since 2008. Born in the city of Kishinau, Republic of Moldova, Elina Lorenz graduated from Art Lyceum Igor Vieru. Lorenz came to the USA in 2002.
"I have been painting since I was 2 when my mother gave me a brush and let me explore. My style of painting is very diverse as I am always in search of something new. Through painting I express myself and I can not imagine my life without this wonderful activity.
I love bright colors...I think that bright colors make you happy and joyful. I work in different media as I love to experiment. I use: watercolor, pastel, acrylic, oil, and I love making collages." said Lorenz.
A series of paintings by Elina Lorenz,will include a painting by her mother Tatiana Oleg, also an accomplished artist.
The show will run through Jan. 17, 2016. Many of the artists will be available at the opening to meet and greet.
Light refreshments will be available.
River Queen Artisans Gallery features work in a variety of media from more than 30 local artists, and features live performances by local musicians every First Friday.
