QuickChek has contracts with suppliers to provide generators within hours notice so that the company can serve food and fuel in the case of emergencies.

QuickChek believes in being prepared. A market leader in the fresh convenience industry with an award-winning fresh food and beverage program, the Whitehouse Station, NJ-based market chain has announced that all 49 of its 140 store locations that serve fuel have quick connect transfer switches which allows for a mobile generator to be brought to the needed site and quickly connected.

QuickChek has contracts with suppliers to provide generators within hours notice so that the company can serve food and fuel in the case of emergencies.

In addition, QuickChek has permanent generators at 12 store locations to guarantee that 24-hour service is available to meet the needs of the community including first responders.

These locations are Lodi (Bergen County), South Brunswick (Middlesex), Hazlet and Highlands (Monmouth), Jefferson Township (Morris), Bayville (Ocean), Lafayette, Newton and Wantage (Sussex), and Belvidere, Independence, and Washington (Warren). The Sparta location (Sussex) is expected to be operational on Saturday, Oct. 3.

After Hurricane Sandy cut off power to nearly 85% of the convenience market chain's New Jersey stores following the superstorm in 2012, it took only one week for all of the company's then 130 stores to be up and running. QuickChek had alerted its generator contractor that it would need generators ahead of the impending storm. Once the superstorm hit, the company moved generators from stores where power was regained to others that needed power. This system worked as planned as all 110 stores that had been affected had power within days after the record-breaking power loss.

Being proactive ahead of the last year's storm season, QuickChek applied for and received grants to install permanent generators in qualified store locations as part of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority's Retail Fuel Station program.

The family-owned company, which has 140 locations throughout New Jersey, New York's Hudson Valley and Long Island including 11 pharmacy locations and 49 stores with fuel, has received numerous industry awards for its innovations and technology implementation.
