CLINTON - The town is getting ready for two big events - The Fireball Run Adventurally and a ceremony for being named one on the Ten Best Towns in New Jersey by the N.J. Chapter of the American Planning Association.
The Clinton Guild, Clinton Conservancy Gardens, youth from Immaculate Conception Church and Country Garden Club members will be weeding, planting and sweeping the Town on Sunday from 8 a.m. until noon in preparation, according to a news release. They are seeking volunteers to help; bring shovels, trowels and brooms.
The Fireball Run online reality series will be coming on Wednesday, Sept. 28. They will be shooting their 10th season in town that day, and Main Street will be closed to traffic from approximately 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
According to its website, Fireball Run is an adventure-travel television series and live action "adventurally" competition. Clinton will be part of their 10th anniversary race.
Downtown Clinton named one of N.J.'s Great Places
"It is the real story of 40 teams of adventurers, taking the road less traveled in an epic quest for America's most obscure and historic artifacts," according to the website. "And it's all just for bragging rights, a greater cause and a plastic road sign."
This year's 26-episode season takes place in states in the Northeast. It is streamed in the United States and televised internationally.
The team competes in a 2000-mile, eight-day, eight-city, life-sized trivia game across the United States.
At each stop the teams will have a task to complete before moving on. At the Red Mill Museum blacksmith shop they will forge a metal tag that must have an image of the Fireball Run logo. In the Hunterdon Art Museum they will be making posters of missing children, which will then be bound in a book and on display at the Museum.
The walking tour and celebration for being named one of New Jersey's Top Ten Towns by the N.J Chapter of the American Planning Association will take place on Sunday, Oct. 16, and be attended by state and town officials.
