Update: JCP&L reports up to 200 customers are without power as a result of the accident. Power is estimated to be restored by 3 p.m.
EAST AMWELL - Rescue workers were on the scene of a serious two-vehicle accident on Route 179 near South County Park, site of the Hunterdon County 4-H and Agricultural Fair.
The fair, which began Wednesday, opens at 10 a.m. daily.
The accident was reported shortly after 10:10 a.m. Friday and involved a dump truck and a vehicle. The driver of the dump truck was extricated at approximately 10:30 a.m., according to reports from the scene. Wires from a pole were also reported to be on the dump truck after it struck two poles.
Rescue workers extricated four people trapped in the other vehicle. All had apparent minor injuries, according to reports.
Delays are being reported on Route 179 from the Route 202 exit. Route 179 is closed at both the Route 202 ramp and at Queen Road, where traffic is being diverted back to Route 202.
