Clerks at Bourbon Street Liquors have stopped two people from trying to use fake driver's licenses to buy alcohol in the last several weeks, according to Raritan Township police.
RARITAN TWP. - Clerks at Bourbon Street Liquors have stopped two people from trying to use fake driver's licenses to buy alcohol in the last several weeks, township police report.
The most recent person arrested was Ryan D. McCarthy, 19, of the township, who allegedly tried to use a fake Rhode Island driver's license to buy alcohol at 10:08 a.m. on July 24, police said.
McCarthy allegedly fled when questioned about the driver's license. The license contained McCarthy's correct name and his photograph, but the date of birth showed him to be 21, according to police.
McCarthy turned himself in at 2:03 p.m. Thursday and was arrested and charged with trying to used a fraudulent driver's license. He was released after processing. The investigation and arrest were made by Officer Margaret Hammond.
On July 4, police used the license and store surveillance camera footage to identify Alexander S. Sutera, 19, also of the township, who allegedly also used a fake New Jersey driver's license to try and buy alcohol earlier in the day. Sutera was arrested and charged the same day and released pending a court hearing.
