The public is invited to a number of free programs at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. All of the programs are sponsored by the College's Office of Multicultural Affairs and the student club Orgullo Latino.
The celebration will kick off on Thursday, Oct. 8, with "Taste of Latin Culture and Flavor: How Latin American Food Evolved and Transformed the World," 1-2:30 p.m., in the Conference Center. The program features keynote speaker Dr. Maricel Presilla, chef, culinary historian and author.

Tuesday, Oct. 13: Filming screening of Black in Latin America: Haiti & Dominican Republic -- An Island Divided and a lecture on "Dominican Republic: Ethnic Purging of Haitians," 12:30-2:30 p.m., in the Robeson Institute Room, Evelyn S. Field Library.
A discussion will be moderated by two RVCC professors, Carl Lindskoog (History) and Brandyn Heppard (Philosophy); both are from the College's Humanities, Social Science and Education department.
Tuesday, Oct. 20: Latin@ Literary Celebration, featuring poetry by Juan Felipe Herrera (2015 U.S. poet laureate) and others, 1-2:30 p.m., Sculpture Garden (outside the Evelyn S. Field Library)
