Cliff Ramsey taught music at Holland Brook and Readington Middle schools and gave music lessons from his home, authorities said

READINGTON -- A former music teacher for Readington Township schools has been sentenced to two years in prison having child sexual abuse images on his computer, authorities said.

Cliff Ramsay, 31, of Raritan Borough in Somerset County pleaded guilty in March before U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson to one count of possession of child pornography.

Wolfson imposed the two-year sentence Wednesday in federal court in Trenton, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said.

Ramsey was a music teacher at Readington Township Middle School and Holland Brook School in February 2015 when he accessed a website known to have child sex abuse images.

Authorities searched his home in July 2015 and found numerous files of child pornography on his computer, authorities have said.

Ramsay, who had been hired in November 2014, was suspended without pay and the Readington Township School District fired him in August. He had also taught music from his home, authorities said.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Wolfson sentenced Ramsay to five years of supervised release. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
