BRIDGEWATER - An open house was held Thursday at the new Somerset Medical Office Building marking Hunterdon Healthcare's expansion into Somerset County.
Guests toured the new offices, which include the Center of Endocrine Health, Hunterdon Heart and Vascular Center, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Hunterdon Urological Associates and Hunterdon Cardiovascular Associates.
The open house was a way for the Somerset County Business Partnership to welcome Hunterdon Healthcare to the area. The building opened on June 6.
"We are impressed with the investment and commitment Hunterdon Health is making in the area," Michael Kerwin, president and chief executive officer of Somerset County Business Partnership, said.
The hospital system also plans to add a Breast Surgery Center in August and a Gastroenterology office later in 2016. In addition to Hunterdon Healthcare and its association with Atlantic Health, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and its affiliated medical offices also provide services in Somerset County. Other regional healthcare providers also provide care in Somerset County, including Saint Peter's Healthcare System.
Hunterdon Healthcare opens site in Warren
Lloyd Rosenberg, president and chief executive officer of DMR Architects, said renovation continues on the first and third floors. He estimated the construction of new office space to be complete by the end of 2016 or in early 2017.
The newly-renovated 55,000-square-foot, three story building, formerly home to Bank of America, is the first of two medical offices built to expand Hunterdon Healthcare into the Somerset and Warren counties.
The expansion in, which includes new offices in Hunterdon County as well, is part of a plan to offer a full range of services, according to Hunterdon Healthcare.
"Our obligation is to fulfill the full circle of care," said Robert Wise, president and chief executive officer of Hunterdon Healthcare. "We must provide the ability for medical resources and the ability to reach out to us conveniently."
Dr. Robert More of MidJersey Orthopedics said one of the next step is to link the parking lot from the Somerset Medical Offices to the adjacent MidJersey Orthopedics center, opening in July.
