An accident involving a truck on Route 31 near the intersection of Country Club Drive and Walnut Pond Road is causing delays in the area on June 13, 2016.
CLINTON TWP. - An accident involving a truck on Route 31 near the intersection of Country Club Drive and Walnut Pond Road is causing delays in the area on Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The accident was reported on northbound Route 31 at shortly after 1:45 p.m. A saddle-type fuel tank ruptured and is leaking diesel fuel. Emergency crews are attempting to stop the fuel from spreading into a nearby creek. The northbound side remains closed as of 5 p.m. with delays back to Allerton Road.
There are also delays on northbound Old Allerton Road to Beaver Avenue as northbound traffic exits off Route 31.
Earlier there were delays past North Hunterdon Regional High School being reported on the northbound side of Route 31 and coming off the eastbound Interstate 78 ramp to southbound Route 31, as well as delays on the southbound side of Route 31 from Interstate 78 to the accident.
