The accident happened at 8:30 p.m. when a 2015 Honda Accord driven by Praveen Dorai-Swamy, 41, of Plainsboro was stopped for a red light on Route 31 south at the intersection with Halstead Street.

Police said a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Jerry Granato, 86, of Iselin was heading south on Route 31 and reportedly did not stop, hitting Dorai-Swamy's vehicle from behind.
