Andres Reyes-Cruz's arrest on a charge of identity theft followed a joint investigation.
FLEMINGTON -- A local man was charged with identity theft following a joint investigation, authorities announced Friday.
Andres Reyes-Cruz, 48, was arrested without incident, according to a release from Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski and Flemington Borough Police Chief George Becker.
A joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, the Office of Homeland Security and the Flemington Police Department showed that Reyes-Cruz assumed the identity of another person by using their Social Security number for personal benefit.

Bail was set at $10,000 by the Municipal Court of Flemington. Reyes-Cruz was held in the Somerset County Jail pending a first court appearance.
