Two Flemington Republicans running in this year's primary have announced their campaign platform.

To the editor:
The Republican Primary election in Flemington has become quite remarkable.
Except for the Republican incumbents, the other candidates for GOP nominations to the three-year seats for Borough Council are not real Republicans, but merely recently converted Republicans of convenience. Apparently they believe that labeling themselves Republicans will give them a political advantage that they have not earned.
We believe that being a Republican really means something.
We believe that candidates seeking the Republican nomination should have a proven record of supporting the Constitution and the conservative principles of standing up for individual liberties and protecting the taxpayers.
They should promote free market trade and protect the private sector from overreaching government.
We believe the basic principles of limited government, less taxation, and protecting civil liberties should be common to all Republican candidates at every level of public representation.
Therefore we ask for your continued support in the coming Primary Election on June 7.
John Gorman and Alan Brewer are both members of the Flemington Borough Council.
