To the editor:
I've been reading the Hunterdon County Democrat for over 30 years and this is the first time I've felt compelled to write to the editor. Recently a personal experience and observation in my community compelled me to share an interesting story.
The Asbury Coffee Mill just opened on Old Main Street in town, and as a long term resident farmer I decided to stop in on their opening weekend for my morning coffee and sandwich.
I was pleasantly surprised with the transformation the Corde Family had made in converting the old deli into a modern coffee shop.
I then noticed Linda Curcio, the proprietor of nearby Hampton Junction at the grill assisting to insure her neighbor's success. Efforts like this truly create a close community and help keep families to stay in the area.
I also want to thank Asbury Carbons for their continued support and interest in rehabilitation of buildings in our small town.
Thank you Asbury Carbons, Linda Curcio and the Corde Family for your investment in our local community. I wish Asbury Coffee Mill the best of luck.
To the editor:
The Kiwanis Club of Central Hunterdon would like to thank ShopRite of Flemington for allowing our club members to stand outside their store on Saturday, April 2, 2016, to collect donations for the Flemington Food Pantry, the Hunterdon County Family Success Center and to help us prepare CARE packages for our Troops in Afghanistan.
Also, a great big thank your to the generous people of the Flemington area for all their donations. We had a very successful day and collected 2,040 items and $877.50.
