Junior Police Academy recruiting in Clinton Township

The academy is set for June 20-24.

CLINTON TWP. -- The Clinton Township Police Department is accepting applications for its annual Junior Police Academy, set for June 20-24, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.

The 2016 Junior Police Academy will be taking 25 cadets. Applicants must be between 12 and 15 years old by June 20, and live in Clinton Township or Lebanon Borough. If there are openings after May 13, people from outside the area can apply.

Academy is life changing, say alums

Planned activities for the week include marching, light physical training, exposure to simulated police work, classroom time, guest speakers, presentations, and field trips.

A graduation ceremony will be held on June 24 at 3 p.m. Anyone with questions can contact Clinton Township Patrolman John Tiger at 908-735-6000 or email him at jtiger@ctpd.org. 

Applications can be obtained at police headquarters Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through May 13.

Cadets learn about working with police dogs

All applications received from those who qualify will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. A $50 registration fee per cadet is necessary to cover the cost of the uniforms.
