Driver faces charges in early-morning N.J. I-78 crash

The driver of a single vehicle crash on Interstate 78 on Sunday, Feb. 21, has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he was flown to the hospital.

UNION TWP. -- The driver involved in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 78 has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he was flown to the hospital by the State Police NorthStar helicopter early Sunday morning in Union Township.

First responders were called to Interstate 78 westbound near exit 12 at 3:47 a.m. and found that the driver in the incident had struck a guardrail, causing the vehicle to rollover, State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn said Sunday.

N.J. teen crashes car into house

Ruben Norillo, 41, was flown to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. for treatment, and has since been released, State Police spokeswoman Trooper Alina Spies said Monday.

Norillo was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.

Responding to the crash and the landing zone were New Jersey State Police, Pattenburg Rescue Squad, Pattenburg Fire Department and paramedics from Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township.
