Catherine Brady will be sentenced on June 24 after pleading guilty to theft by unlawful taking after nearly depleting the Delaware Valley Horsemen's Association treasury.
The former treasurer of the Delaware Valley Horsemen's Association has pleaded guilty to theft of thousands of dollars from the organization.
Catherine L. Brady, 46, of Lebanon Township was arrested in April, 2015 as the result of an investigation conducted by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit.
The matter was presented to a grand jury which then returned an indictment on one count of third-degree theft. Then a warrant was issued and Brady was arrested.
"It is alleged that between March 2013 through March 2014, she took over $68,000 from the Horseman's Association of Delaware Valley. She was a trusted officer of the Association with access to their funds and accounts during the time she is alleged to have committed the theft," Kearns said after her arrest.
Brady was taken to the Hunterdon County Jail and subsequently released after posting $20,000 bail set by Judge Bradford M. Bury.
She pleaded guilty on Jan. 29. Sentencing is scheduled for June 24 before Judge Angela Borkowski in Superior Court in Flemington.
Despite the theft, the club bounced back and DVHA's show season featured a full slate of shows and clinics last year and there is a full slate scheduled for this year starting in April. The club's annual awards banquet was held in late January.
A slide show was created for the banquet which was dedicated to Tony DeLise for his dedication to the organization.
