The New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society hosted the Bike MS: Barrels and Brews 2015 ride, formerly known as Bike MS: Hops to Hops, at Unionville Vineyards on Sunday, Sept. 13. Cyclists and volunteers raised more than $46,000 towards a world free of MS.

After cyclists received an exclusive Bike MS medal, they joined spectators for a finish-line celebration at Unionville Vineyards for a catered lunch, wine and beer tastings, music, and massages.

The fully supported ride offered clearly marked routes, rest stops stocked with snacks and water every 10-13 miles, and full medical and mechanical support on the route. The family-friendly event was a perfect activity for cyclists of all skill levels. Cyclists rode either 40 or 62 miles -- all for a world free of multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. There is no known cause or cure for MS. Funds raised through Bike MS directly benefit cutting-edge MS research as well as programs and services that help more than 10,000 people with MS and their families in northern and central Jersey.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society's Bike MS program is the largest organized cycling series in the country. The chapter invites you to join the movement and participate in this unforgettable experience as a cyclist, spectator, or volunteer. Bike MS is perfect for individuals, organizations and corporations.

The New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National MS Society is committed to helping the more than 10,000 people living with multiple sclerosis in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. The chapter raises funds locally to support the Society's critical research initiatives and to provide hundreds of comprehensive support services and educational programs for people living with MS, their family and friends.
