A wedding postponed by an automobile accident was solemnized at 8 p.m. on Jan. 16, when Miss Barbara Ann Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin B. Wilson of Mt. Pleasant, became the bride of Edward C. Philkill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Philkill of Milford. The accident occurred 3 hours before the ceremony originally scheduled for Jan. 10, when the prospective bridegroom was injured in a 2-car accident on Frenchtown-Milford Road.
The N.J. Public Utilities Commission has refused the Pennsylvania Railroad permission to discontinue passenger service on the Belvidere Division. Lambertville, Stockton, Frenchtown and other communities along the line of the railroad strongly opposed the discontinuance of the passenger service.

W. Harold Atkinson, county jail warden, has announced the promotion of several staff members. Among them are Edward Serridge of Flemington, a 10-year veteran with the jail, who is now lieutenant. His wife, Betty, who has worked there for 6 years, is now a sergeant, the first woman to hold this position.

A new policy emphasizing the role of a parish priest in preparing couples for marriage has been approved by the Roman Catholic dioceses of New Jersey. It mandates that ''all engaged couples who contemplate a Roman Catholic marriage receive sacramental preparation, '' a process that would begin a year before the marriage date, when possible. The church hopes that pre-marriage education will be a factor in decreasing the rate of ''marriage pathology'' - divorce or separation.
