'Young Frankenstein' coming to Readington Community Theatre in the spring

Like the movie of the same name, the townspeople are up in arms because Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, creator of the treacherous Monster, has come back to Transylvania Heights to live.

Transylvania Heights is coming to Readington Township when Readington Community Theatre presents the Mel Brooks musical comedy "Young Frankenstein." The madcap show will run from Thursday through Saturday, April 28-30, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 1, at 2 p.m., at the Polish American Club Liberty Theater, 29 Kline Boulevard, Whitehouse Station.

Like the movie of the same name, the townspeople are up in arms because Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Von Frankenstein, creator of the treacherous Monster, has come back to Transylvania Heights to live.

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein was played by Gene Wilder in the film and will be played for RCT by Jonathan Wierzbicki, an experienced actor with a BFA in Theatre from the University of Scranton.

The Monster will be John Kunka and Igor will be Dan Mazelis who both recently appeared in "California Suite" and many other shows for RCT. In the film, Igor was played by Marty Feldman and Frau Blucher was Cloris Leachman who won a Golden Globe Best Actress Award. Joan Hoffman, who has appeared in many shows including Westfield Community Theatre productions, will be Frau Blucher and Tammy McKillip will play Dr. Frankenstein's fiancee Elizabeth which earned Madeline Kahn a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress award.

Inga, Dr. Frederick's lab assistant will be played by Ariana Fort, who was nominated last year for an NJACT award for her notable performance as Blanche Dubois in Villager's Theatre's "A Streetcar Named Desire". All of the talented actors in this adult comedy "Young Frankenstein" have appeared in many shows for local theatre companies.

The Director/Musical Director of RCT's production of this musical mayhem is Will Magalio, Music Director for Hunterdon Central High School orchestra pit, marching band and the talent show plus he is Music Director for the Unitarian Church at Somerset Hills. Co-Director/ Choreographer Cindy Magalio has worked with Magalio on most of RCT's productions and is HCRHS marching band Color Guard Instructor.
