The Hunterdon Choral Union invites singers to join rehearsals in preparation for their spring concert to be held on Saturday, April 23. Together with the Hunterdon Symphony, the chorus will be performing Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana." Sections of Orff's work, first performed in 1937, have become immensely popular, heard in both pop and classical music settings.

Rehearsals, which will begin on Feb. 2, are held each week at 7:30 p.m., on Tuesdays, in the Band Room at North Hunterdon High School, Route 31 South, Annandale. No audition is required. Contact the group in advance to learn how to order a copy of the score.

Contact can be made on the group's website, www.HunterdonMusicalArts.org, or by calling 908-283-4691.

The choral group is conducted by Richard McIntyre, formerly with the Music Department at Voorhees High School. Following a 30-year career in public schools, McIntyre currently serves as organist and choir director at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Pittstown.

The Hunterdon Choral Union is part of Hunterdon Musical Arts, an organization that provides area residents with the opportunity to participate in various musical activities locally. The organization is funded in part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, through funds administered by the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission.
