Jones is the 11th Vikings girl to reach the milestone.

Voorhees High School senior Erin Jones grabbed a steal and drove in for a layup to become the school’s 11th 1,000-point girls basketball scorer on Wednesday.

Jones’ milestone basket came with 3:45 remaining in the third quarter during the Vikings’ 47-34 victory over Pennington School in the Lawrence High School holiday tournament final.

The senior, who was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, finished with 14 points and now has 1,004 for her career.

“Now that it’s over, it feels so good,” the University of Hartford recruit told Ray Clark of NJ Advance Media. “It’s something I’ve had in mind to do since my freshman year … This was really special and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates."

The Vikings improved to 4-0 on the season.
